Crashes

1-in-5 new drivers will have a collision in their first two years after their test.  It may not be your fault.  But, in any case, here's what to do:

1. Get everyone to safety (away from the road)
2. Call police (if anyone's injured, or just to manage traffic)
3. Exchange name/address with the other driver (and witnesses)
4. Tell your insurance broker/company (within 24 hours)
5. Arrange for your car to be recovered (be prepared to pay)
6. Remove property from your car (you may not see the car again)
7. Gather any evidence (get photos and any dashcam recording)
8. Arrange transport (to home, and to your designated repairer)
9. Make an insurance claim (possibly against the other driver)

Recovery may be paid for by your insurance: check if it's just for breakdown, not collision.  Your insurer may offer a temporary hire car.
