Mistakes

Learner drivers commonly make at least some of these :
  • Slowing down (or signalling) too late
  • Not considering the effect of slowing (EFFECTIVE use of centre mirror)
  • De-clutching too early, known as "coasting" (possible in a manual car)
  • Crossing hands when steering
  • Having clutch above biting point while easing off brake (a manual car)
  • Avoiding handbrake to move away faster
  • Applying handbrake before having fully stopped
  • "Riding the clutch" (only possible in a manual car)
Picture
Read how these can lead to faults marked on your driving test report (with some examples).  But also how they are tools for learning.  And DON'T tell yourself that you've failed during the test; it's not your job to decide: consider these scenarios.
