I recently asked to have my driving assessed by another instructor. I was just curious what I might do very well and if I'd picked up significant bad habits or there were gaps in my ability. I learned:
I'm surprised I've not mentioned this until now, after 13 years. I first heard the name when a 23-yearold arrived in my office (2009) and said he'd done the course. It covers modules not often included in learner lessons (city driving; motorway; in the dark; rural roads). Here's another description.
In its early years, I gather many insurers offered discounts to newly qualified drivers who'd also done it. In more recent times I understand you'll pay roughly as much to take those extra lessons (and I'm not qualified to sign off on such a course, by the way) as any saving you'd get on insurance premium. I support the idea. That is why, wherever possible, I include the module material in ordinary driving lessons leading to an L-test. And I hence don't believe this is necessarily true. See especially 22:00. And what the trainee examiner says at 14:55 :) I took my own L-test in 1981. |
