Bumps

Bumps in the road may be due to hot/cold weather, heavy traffic, or roots.

But "speed bumps" are where the road level is artificially raised to calm traffic.  They're marked by a white triangle on their leading slope.  They can be individual "cushions", full-width "humps", or "speed tables".

To get the smoothest ride, approaching a cushion with your seat heading towards the bottom right-hand corner of its white triangle.
For all types of bump, approach with as much speed as feels comfortable, and so your tyres stay in contact with the road.
