Car

You will have to bring a suitable car to your practical test. But it doesn't have to be your instructor's car :

YOUR OWN CAR ...

• Must display L-plates and have an extra centre/internal mirror fitted
• Must be insured for you to drive on test (not all hire companies allow this)
• Is your responsibility to ensure all lights are working, windows clear, number plates legible, tyres visually safe & legal, but the instruments show no warning lights
  
• Needs someone to get it (and maybe you) to the test centre
• Might make you feel more "at home", in your own space
• ​Is cheaper, as you won't need to hire mine

YOUR INSTRUCTOR'S CAR ...

• Will already have L-plates, and an extra mirror for the examiner's use
  
• May be more familiar to you
• Is the instructor​'s responsibility to be fit
  
• Can take you to the test centre, and back home
  
• Will cost you to hire to use on test
