Where you're sitting is YOUR seat. YOU are in charge of the controls, and therefore the car's destination ... if not its destiny!

It's YOUR space. Not mine; not the examiner's. Think that way during your driving test. It’s your own little room, into which you've invited a guest. You don't have to say "Make yourself at home"​. You don't have to be a nice host or keep them especially comfortable.

For that time, this is your machinery.  So personalise it. Bring sounds. Bring fragrance. Bring a favourite photo. After all, that's what you'll do in your car. And recognise your mindset.  That way, you'll be confident to trust your judgments when moving among others.  Lastly, might being in your own local area empower you even more?
