Compromise

You can't always do everything "right".  In fact, when driving, you rarely can.  As long as others outside your control are involved (people, weather, road surface) you will constantly need to prioritise and compromise.

And compromise doesn't mean giving up.  It aims to get most the people the most of what they want.  When driving, it means letting go only the least risky parts of what you're doing.  It's being pragmatic instead of perfectionist.  These exceptions to rules-of-thumb for driving are good examples.

So, when leaving a roundabout, someone has to move first into the exit road.  When merging, one of you has to notice the other's wishes and be ready to give way.  Compromise isn't failure.  It's the way of almost always making progress, guaranteeing success.
