Insurance
|
As a driver, you must have a minimum level of financial protection in case you hurt someone or damage their property. This is called a "third party" insurance policy.
Protection costs more if you want it to pay for your own car repair when an accident is your fault. The other driver's insurance cover pays if it's theirs. This is called a "comprehensive" policy. Try this site to compare costs. And see Ingenie, Marmalade, Admiral. |
If you're young, expect to pay more. Similarly if you've had "at-fault" claims (perhaps due to crashes) within the last 5 years. You will typically get a discount for each year you were insured without making a claim (your "No Claims Discount" or "No Claims Bonus").
