Reverse-turning
Hard to know which way to turn when going backwards?
Imagine yourself on a child's ride-on, like this tricycle. Here, the steering ("handle-bar") is more visibly linked to the wheels that change your direction than in a car (with its "handle-wheel"). When you push your feet on the floor to go forwards, you can tell if you'd move left or right. What about backwards? Remembering this picture might help you think it through. For very small spaces, forklift trucks have steerable wheels at the rear. |
