Ride

So, you're fed up with the pedestrian pace of walking.  You want to sit on something that can go faster.  Something with wheels ... or hooves.

If it's motorised, you'll be able to keep up with other motor traffic, and move out of the way faster.  But you're still a vulnerable road user (VRU), as you won't be seated in a little metal box (car).

If you're only "human-powered", you'll be slower to respond and less visible.  You may be tempted to switch between pavement and road, swerve around pot-holes, leaves, tram-tracks, or suddenly stop.

All this makes you less predictable, and hence an Extremely Vulnerable Road User (XRU).
More basic, being aware of how you dress and behave (especially when it's darker or rainy) will help you stay visible to people in charge of heavy, fast-moving mechanical stuff that could squash you.  That stuff's nothing more unusual than cars and trucks, controlled by people sometimes tired, hungry, or distracted ... just like us !
