Companion
You don't have to drive alone on your practical test. Anyone over 16 can (usually) join you. They can't take part, and should sit behind you, keeping still and quiet. They can take notes but not record audio/video.
That person, especially if they are your instructor, can :
- Give moral support (as a "friendly presence")
- Discuss the test result (the examiner has only 1-2 min to simply describe it)
- Help open the bonnet (to answer the safety question at the start)
- Change a failed light/tyre during test
- Bring the car back (if the test has to be terminated early)
- See you perform under pressure (to suggest ways to improve)
