Yes, this happens. Even to experienced drivers. It usually concerns choices. So we have a strategy for when it starts. Sift what matters from what doesn't. Prioritise what does. Focus on the important.
Slow down so you can spot these situations early. Keep eyes ABOVE the road so you'll see signs and buildings—even people's heads—pointing your route. As you draw closer to the hazard (bend, roundabout, etc.), let your eyes go down ONTO the road. Markings there will help you hold your position, or guide your direction. Let your eyes rise again as you start leaving the hazard. Change frequently like this: scan far; near; far again. Roam around the Street View examples here. Follow each lane toward its intended exit. Closer in, use mainly markings (but notice the confirming signs, too). |
