For a dramatist, driving is very dull. At least, it should be. Because the safest driving is where everyone behaves predictably.
You will know the importance of subtle positioning, sight-lines, stage directions, prompting, of making eye-contact with your audience, and who’s expected to go next. Cues and timing matter, as does making the most of your “stage presence” and body language, so you can change the pace of the action. Not all your stage directions and participations are scripted: some will have to be ad lib. But your fellow performers should never be shocked or surprised by what you do. (Only “transported” by your performance). |
