Examiners
|
These people come in all shapes and sizes. Of course they do: they’re human individuals, like you and me. But they’re highly trained, and continually monitored, so they assess you fairly. (My experience is they do that >95% of the time, and they won’t know if you failed before).
HOWEVER, you'll usually feel differently when you meet them. That moment after they call your name, you’ll have an emotional reaction. We all would. |
Initially, you’ll be distracted when they ask you to sign a declaration. But after that, as you walk to your car, TAKE THE CHANCE to speak to them, to build rapport, before you sit down and the language becomes more formal (but still quite simple).
And, while driving, CHAT: impersonal, light-hearted stuff. Take the lead: it’s YOUR test. You’re just hiring them for their professional assessment on behalf of the government. Believe you’re in charge. Because you ARE. All the controls are in front of YOU. You decide what happens: ultimately, where you go and how you proceed.
Lastly, try to ignore what they do with their hands. Not every note they make means a fault. They have to record other things, too. It’s not YOUR job to interpret what they do. Your job is to concentrate, and to perform.
