Theology
"What ON EARTH can God-study have to do with driving ?!", you may ask.
Well, a young priest once quoted Umberto Eco to me: "Apple computers are like Roman Catholic spirituality—you find what you're seeking through icons; PCs are like Protestant spirituality—you have to know the technical words instead". How very true. And, thanks be to Allah and the major manufacturers that modern cars are laid out with globally recognised icons these days. So, you can rely on shapes, colours, and symbols ("pictograms") inside the vehicle, as well as outside, to guide "your journey". You know a red warning light is more serious than an amber [yellow] one, and a white (or green) one is just for info. (Same with road markings or signs). And, in a car, there are almost always 3 senses for you to get "confirmation" that something's happened: Sight, Sound, and Sensation. How very Trinitarian. So, don't rely on just your vision—listen and feel, too. It's rather like the multi-sensory, whole-body engagement seen more in the Eastern Orthodox church, the fasting of Islam, cantoring of Judaism, and mindfulness of Buddhism. |
