Position
Keep the car in the “normal position” (see photopage) unless you need to [1] pass an obstruction, [2] overtake a slow vehicle, or [3] turn right. (You might also need to avoid a lane going a different way, or one for special vehicles). Beware of parallax.
Your head and hands have their own normal positions unless you're [a] looking into a blind spot/angle, [b] actively steering, or [c] using ancillary controls.
Good driving means "always being in the right place at the right time". So move at a speed to suit what's around, never faster than you can stop in the distance you know is clear. This might mean at no speed at all (= stopped). After all, you have control over ONLY YOUR position (by hands steering) and speed (by foot slowing or accelerating the engine or motor). In other words, know your boundaries.
