Going forwards OR backwards, steer the way you want to go. For most corners at junctions, turn the steering wheel about one full turn (360°).

Turn it smoothly, and only a little, to adjust your position as you go. Look well ahead. Turn less as you speed up. Usually, turn only when the car’s moving.
Good technique ("pull-push" turning) keeps best control. It changes your direction most quickly and easily. It's also safer ...in 4 ways. If reversing, turn the wheel less than when going forward. Think about the overall sweep of your body as the front corners swing round. |
