Reversing

In the practical test, you'll be asked to do ONE reversing exercise. This will be either reversing into (or out of) a bay, OR parallel parking, OR pulling up on the right then moving back straight.
How well you perform is judged by criteria "OCA":
  • Observation (all-round awareness and response; the "gold medal")
  • Coordination (of prompt steering, and low speed; a "silver medal")
  • Accuracy (ending reasonably straight, parallel, and close; worth only "bronze")
When moving from near the edge of the road, your car may roll because it's less likely to be flat.  So, BEFORE you start, look for slopes along AND across the road.
As well as parallel parking ("S-park"), know how to turn around in the road (“K-turn”) and to reverse around a corner (“L-turn”).
