“You eat with your eyes”, say the chefs. Eyes come first. It makes sense. A living creature (us included) wants to know if something’s nice or nasty while it’s still far away. In driving, too: the distant thing could put you at risk.
So, let your eyes go round the corner before your hands do any steering. Check out everything around in case it’s a threat (things that move will be more so). Different foods have different textures, sounds, tastes. Use more than just your sense of sight in the car. Hear “the bite” of the clutch, feel where you left the gearstick or handbrake without looking (just as you reach for cutlery or napkin by touch). |
