ADI in 1989, examiner in 2003, enforcement in c.2007.  3 PDIs among 27 attendees.  Topic was the 45min-SC.  Do a very brief recap on the drive since pick-up of the client.  Show CPD but don’t expect it to be reviewed.  Get straight in to doing the lesson.  The goalposts should often move.  Speed of approach example.  Agree aims and the sharing of risk.  Fill in knowledge gaps.  Plan early to speak (and listen).  “Off the gas, brake” enables retaking / resharing responsibility for risk.  Plan route to minimise escalation.  “Practice” area is simply the praxis area.  “Go to the opposite end of the coin”.  If dual brake is used, first ask “Are you alright?”  Higher competencies: "Was it the right lesson?"; "Was risk managed?"; "Did learning take place?"  The SC threshold will soon rise to 33/51.  So 17 core competencies @2 marks will pass.

AVC promise "a revolution" in vehicle mobility aimed at people with access or operating problems.  They are based in Birmingham and launched last month.  Despite US stock photos and proofreading errors in their promotional headlines, I wish them well with this timely model, as they compete with the longstanding Motability business model.
