The above campaign was launched pre-Covid and a lot of behaviour has changed since. We became more connected "virtually", for one. 'Twas a good idea ("make the glove box the phone box") overtaken by events. And would you really want your screen jangling against those metal objects in the picture anyway?
More and more car manufacturers are adapting parking brake, gear-selector, and cup-holder controls, as well as other storage, to encourage phones to be "out and proud": in use for navigation, interfacing with the car concerning range, health, maintenance, updates, marketing, so of course we want to enjoy good signal reception (it's bad enough with the phone travelling in a metal box!) I'm afraid remote connection ("Everything Everywhere") is what most of us now expect, be it on foot, wheels, rails, or water ... maybe even in the air. Either the phone manufacturers have to limit us, or we discipline ourselves (individually or democratically).

And how crap are those council-installed matrix displays? They're often broken, with inconsistent icons, in contradictory colours, say "Thank You" when you're speeding / "Slow Down" when you're not, are dazzling and dangerous, confusing, and were proven ineffective some 16 years ago.
There, I feel better now. Until the next time. Click the picture above if you’d like to see how law-ignoring motorists will soon be fined for, guess what, driving in places they shouldn’t. It’s not rocket science.
Far fewer manual gearbox cars are now being made. So the choice of automatics has never been higher. Certainly, automatics are becoming much more popular. And although auto pass-rates are lower, take time to understand the reasons for that.
In summary, consider carefully why you want a manual. I can help you find and choose suitable cars. We can visit, inspect, and even test drive them. And, at no cost beyond my time, I can deal with trusted sellers for you.
